The common feature of all the vintages is ripe fruit, fresh aromas, and a supple, full-bodied structure. This wine has a sparkling ruby red colour and a pleasantly fruity nose with aromas of black cherries, raspberries and plums, all with a hint of spice. Bodegas Breca Garnacha de Fuego Old Vines 2013The grapes come from old vines vineyards, 60-80 years-old, with yields of 2T/Ha and located high on the hillsides, 3,000 ft above sea level, around Calatayud. The vineyards are planted in principally decomposed slate and gravely clay soils. Even though there is very little rainfall in the region (around 350ml per year), the clay is at depth and allows for the vines to obtain moisture and be dry grown.

Flavors of black cherry, spice and oak with round firm tannins lead to a soft, silky, lingering finish. Cabernet was abundant and ripe flavors, soft tannins and complexity are the hallmarks of the vintage. Our Silver Palm Cabernet relies heavily on grapes grown in Mendocino County, which provides the soft, black cherry flavors to the wine. We used Sonoma County Merlot to add plushness to the palate and small amount of Cabernet Franc for spice and to round out the finish.
